C’est donc à l’occase de son concert au Paradox à Marseille que TY un de nos Mc’s anglais préférés de la célèbre usine « Big Dada » a répondu à cette micro interview:
1. On your album « Closer » you had people like « De la soul », « Speech », « Zion I » and many more… Who would you choose for a featuring on your next album between Krs One, Gift of Gab, Q-tip? Raashan Ahmad? Or who!?
TY: okay… so .. the features thing…… for me its about the song.. i try and have the right people o the right projectsw.. so if a song doesnt need someone on it .. i wont put them on it.. to be honest i am not so mucvh a fan of collaborations…. just for collaborations sake….. i need to feel like people come together to make one record.. rather and a compilation album… so .. the guest really depend on if i need them and who is available.. and most importanlty whether they want to be on the record in the first place!!..
2. For you what are the biggest differences between UK and US Hip Hop!?
TY: the second question is simple…. money and percieved coolness….. being american allows you a little more freedom as far as people expect you to sound a particular way.. being from the european side of things i have had to fight to be heard a lot harder than most independant us artists…
3. If you would have to say 3 names that represents MUSIC, who are they?
TY: Three names that represent music: Dj Premier, Dj Pogo and Ennio Morricone.
4. What is the best show you ever saw? and the best one you ever made (the best place)?
TY: One of the best shows ive ever seen had to be nice and smooth concert in the 90’s in london…
so much going on.. dancers/ singers/ rappers/ deejays/ breakdancing/ .. it was too good!!
My best show.. hmmm….. for some beautiful reason i seem to have a brilliant time in Berne Switzerland…… i LOVE THAT CROWD VERY MUCH!!!..
5. Did you heard about Marseilles’s Hip hop?
TY: I HAVE NOT HEARD ABOUT MARSEILLES HIP HOP .. I FOLLOW INTERNATIONAL HIP HOP AND FRENCH HIP HOP … BUT NOT QUITE CLEAR ON WHO IS FROM MARSEILLE AND WHO ISNT?…. I LIKE HOCUS POCUS
